OFFSET KART SET-UP TIPS

The Offset kart you have purchased has been rigorously tested in all types of racing and has shown across the board to be extremely successful. The info on neutral set-up on the previous pages is the same for this kart with the exception of the rear wheel hub placement. The offset on this kart on the L.H. side is 2 5/8". In order to get the wheels on both rears in the same location from center, you will have to set the left rear hub 2 5/8" farther from the axle plate to the machined flange that the wheel bolts to. Set the R.H. hub at 5" from the frame and the L.H. side at 7 5/8". This will allow on the L.H. side for the offset of the frame. Install wheels, seat, etc. as previously described for wide track kart. Use 90 degree seat strut on the left side of seat.

Once you have installed the seat and leveled the frame from front to back you can experiment with moving the rear fire in. We have found that moving the left rear wheel 1" adds 10-12 lbs. to the L.H. rear tire only. Front fires are not affected by moving the rear tire and our testing has shown 1-2" offset seems to be about the range where we have had the best results. There will be instances when no offset will be used. Don't fool yourself by using extra left rear weight all the time. The rear axle is not in the kart evenly and is 38" long. Front end ratio will be from 43% - 41% depending on driver size and location. If you have a Free Roller Offset the front end ratio will be 39% - 37%.

The offset also has dirt adjusters on both sides. The objective of these adjusters is to allow you to easily adjust ride height, or wedge, or both. The setting for dirt adjusters when 2 are used is 2.270 - 2.275 on each side. (See picture) Measure from the bottom of the spindle in the holder to the top of the machined yoke with a set of calipers. This is important to be certain they match.

If only one side of the kart has the dirt option, we match the fixed side length. The fixed side can vary as much as .030 to .040 because of the washer thickness. It doesn't matter if the height is 2.270 + or - .030. What matters is that the dirt side matches the fixed side so when the kart is neutral, the wheel weights will match. Make your adjustments from there. One washer of wedge equals 2 turns on the dirt adjuster. So if you want to load the left front tire 5 lbs. you would turn the dirt adjuster down 2 turns.
